Mental Health Awareness

Even the most beautiful flowers have a not so beautiful part.
That happens with us people too.
The people who look like they have such a beautiful and nice life are not always the ones who are really like that. Everyone has their own life, everyone has their problems and secrets that only a few people or no one at all know about.  Everyone struggles at some point of their life, but not everyone struggling can be noticed, on time.

It makes me sad how just because someone appears happy and physically healthy everyone else will suppose that they are okay. People often forget about the mental health, and some of them even joke about it or romanticize mental ilnesses. I find this extremely sad and it just shows how much our society is messed up. Depression is not "special", anxiety is not cute, self-harm scars are not beautiful, suicide is not poetic, eating disorders are not glamorous, schizophrenia is terrifying, etc; stop romanticizing mental illnesses. They're not beautiful at all and you don't want them.
Please pay attention to the ones you love, just because they seem fine it doesn't mean they are. The power and damage of mental illnesses is so strong, but you can't see it from the outside if you're not paying enough attention.
Everyday people commit suicide, mostly because they're depressed. Depression (which can be followed by many other mental illness, making it even harder to deal with) is not impossible to recover from, it isn't at all, but help and support is much needed. If you see someone who you think might need this help please help them seeking for it. Or if you think you need some support or help please don't hesitate in seeking for it, before it's too late.
If no one notices you're struggling, tell someone about it.  Reach out.  Seek help.  No one is going to save you, you have to save yourself, with help from others.
You (or someone else) might not be having the perfect time right now, but don't give up your fight, you'll blossom again

And remember, you're not alone!

I hope your holidays were lovely and that you're all good! Happy new year!!

With love,
Mari xx
